Udy Edet was born in Nigeria and came to the U.S. while in elementary school. She grew up in Washington, DC, but now resides in Tucson, AZ. Udy is a self-taught artist who works in oil, watercolor, and alcohol pigments. She has studied with masters in the U.S. and taken workshops at The Art Students League in New York City. Udy's work emphasizes the female form with darker complexion to evoke feelings of fantasy and recall both supernatural and mythical themes. She paints primarily in oils, but also has watercolors and alcohol ink paintings. Her's is the art of affirmation and harmony. The canvases evoke the mystery of an ephemeral moment. Udy has drawn inspiration from Alphonse Mucha, Gustav Klimt and many different artists that celebrate the female form and the eternal mystery it evokes. Udy's work searches for beauty in settings that present women at peace, in thought, and with hope.
